Position Overview

Customer Service Counter Operator

The Shire of Dundas is seeking applications for the position of Customer Service Counter Operator at the Norseman Local Post Office.

This role is responsible for delivering high-quality, efficient and accurate customer service at the post office front counter, supporting the continued operation of an essential community service. Flexible working arrangements may be considered for the right applicant. Training will be provided.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform customer sales and service transactions in a professional and efficient manner
  • Accurately manage high-value transactions including cash, cheques, credit cards and EFTPOS
  • Conduct identity services transactions, including Australian Passport interviews
  • Promote postal and retail products through up-selling, cross-selling and merchandising activities
  • Assist customers with mail lodgements and associated costs
  • Build positive relationships with customers through responsive and courteous service
  • Undertake administrative duties including stocktaking and record maintenance

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Demonstrated customer service experience and strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience handling cash and processing financial transactions accurately
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • High level of attention to detail and accountability
  • Physical capacity to lift up to 16kg and stand for extended periods

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a postal, retail or government service environment
  • Experience in cash handling
